  Building Health Information Exchanges To Support ACOs and Medical Homes: Delaware's Experience

  Date: Wednesday, June 5, 2013 1–2 pm ET

  Join the AHRQ Health Care Innovations Exchange for an interactive dialogue exploring strategies for building Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) to promote accountable care organizations (ACOs) and patient-centered medical homes (PCMHs).

  The exchange will begin with information about lessons learned from Delaware’s innovative Health Information Network (DHIN), an integrated, statewide health data system to support the information needs of consumers, health plans, policymakers, providers, purchasers and research to improve the quality and efficiency of health care services in Delaware.

  Learn how DHIN data is used for statewide strategic planning, for reducing unnecessary medical care and testing, and for improving care coordination. Participants will discuss key issues related to sharing information that supports ACO/PCMH implementation.

  Participants will explore questions such as:

  • What are key tools and strategies to encourage providers to link to a statewide HIE? What types of participation should be required (besides opt-out options)?
  • How can specialty providers such as mental health professionals be encouraged to both provide data to and use the HIE for care coordination?
    What strategies facilitate providing real-time data to practices?
  • What are some of the issues that need to be resolved to promote cross-state information exchange for patients who receive care outside of the state?
  • What are strategies for efficiently using HIE data for planning?
  • What types of data may be used for population-based analytics? What are some issues to consider?

  The Delaware Psychological Association is sponsoring a continuing education program, A Brief Survey of DSM-5, ICD-10-11, and PDM: Diagnostic & Treatment Issues, presented by Robert M. Gordon, Ph.D., ABPP, on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Delaware Center for Horticulture, 1810 N. DuPont Street in Wilmington.

  This full-day program has been approved for six (6) CE credits and will help mental health professionals become familiar with DSM-5, ICD-10, the upcoming ICD-11, and the lesser known PDM (Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual).

  Third Annual DC Bus Trip

  Join the Delaware Nurses Association as we go on our Third Annual DC Bus Trip to Washington DC! We will be going to Capitol Hill to meet with the American Nurses Association Government Affairs staff and our national legislators*. Along the way, network with friends and colleagues and gain some knowledge about legislation, how it affects your nursing practice and what ANA does for you.

  Speakers for this road trip will be announced.

  3.0 nursing contact hours will be offered**.

  It’s going to be a bus load of fun and education! This invitation is open to ALL nurses and nursing students who are interested in learning more about ANA, legislation at the national level and networking.

  Cancellation Policy
  Cancellations must be received in writing and post-marked/or emailed by June 13, 2013. Full registration less a $25 processing fee will be refunded only cancellations cancellations received before the above date. No refunds will be issued after June 13, 2013.

  To be fair to those on the waiting list, registrations are NOT transferable.

  Bus trips may be cancelled due to low number of registrations resulting in a financial loss for the Association, inclement weather, or state/national issued 'State of Emergency' announcements.

  The Delaware Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.
