Inaugural Student Policy Summit & Advocacy Day

Learning Objectives

1. Develop a deeper understanding of the role state policy making has on nursing practice and the importance of nurses getting involved in state policy.
2. Build communication knowledge and skills for effectively communicating with state legislators.
3. Build relationships with legislators by attending committee meetings and/or 1:1 constituent meetings.
4. Observe the legislative process (Senate and/or House Chambers) to develop a better understanding of how state policy is discussed, developed and approved.

Dress/Attire

• Wear either business casual OR, with your school's permission, your school scrubs. Wear comfortable shoes as some walking will be required.

Food & Beverage

• Coffee, water, and soda will be provided at various points throughout the day. Lunch will be provided as well.
