DNA's Advocacy Committee is responsible for writing and ushering nursing and health policy in Delaware and nationally, as well as reviewing pending legislation/policy/regulations and determining DNA's stance. All DNA members and nursing students are encouraged to participate in this important work. Please register for the meeting and you will be emailed an invitation to join the meeting. Learning Objectives

Develop a deeper understanding of the role state policy making has on nursing practice and the importance of nurses getting involved in state policy.
Build communication knowledge and skills for effectively communicating with state legislators.
Build relationships with legislators by attending committee meetings and/or 1:1 constituent meetings.
Observe the legislative process (Senate and/or House Chambers) to develop a better understanding of how state policy is discussed, developed and approved.

Dress/Attire

Wear either business casual OR, with your school's permission, your school scrubs. Wear comfortable shoes as some walking will be required.

Food & Beverage

Coffee, water, and soda will be provided at various points throughout the day. Lunch will be provided as well.

Please "Save-the-Date" for our annual roundtrip shuttle to Washington D.C. for ANA's Hill Day. Annually, the American Nurses Association plans a "Hill Day" that brings together over 500 nurses from across the nation to advocate for nursing policy and solutions with federal legislators.

For the 3rd year, the Delaware Nurses Association will organize a roundtrip shuttle to take dozens of Delaware Nurses down to D.C. to participate in this great event! We will meet with our federal delegation, have lunch, and more!
